SCHOOL HISTORY
The school had a humble inception on 25-02-1970 as Sri Matha Balar Patasala sponsored by the town High school Association. The notable names associated with its founding at early stages are Dr.M.K.Subramaniam and Sri S. Mahalinga Iyer, B.A.,B.L.,
The school had such a quick and phenomenal growth that the tiffin sheds and verandahs of the Town High School had become too small to house her. The foundation for the present campus was laid on 01-01-1978 under the Secretaryship of Sri.N.Dasarathy Iyer.
It is during the period of Sri N.Dasarathy Iyer and the present Secretary, Sri N.Navaneethakrishnan B.A.,B.L., that the growth in accommodation and academic standard has registered a steep climb. The school owes its present high level to the untiring zeal and energetic application of the present Secretary Sri N.Navaneethakrishnan B.A.,B.L.,
As per the orders of the Director of School Education. Dis.No:45-715-E3190 the school has gained recognition as a full blown Matriculation School.
The school has celebrated its Silver Jubilee celebration on 26th February 95, with pomp and glory. The members of the Managing Committee Thiruvalargal:T.S.Swaminatha Odayar,A.R.Seshayah Sastrigal, Dr.T.Seetharaman and K.Baladhandayuthapani Moopanar who have associated with the managing committee for ever 25 years were honoured Mr.M.Mahalinga Iyer Auditor and member, Managing Committee unveiled the Portrait of Dr.M.K.Subramaniam who was responsible for founding the Institution. Four of the staff who have served the institution for over 20 years were felicitated.
While thanking all those who have given of their best in the cause of the School and sound education, we solicit the help and co-operation of the public in the noble task, we have set ourselves to-that of shaping everyone of our students into a wholesome and integrated personality, bringing credit to home, school and country.
Sri Matha Matriculation School has been upgraded into Matriculation Higher Secondary School from the school Year 2008-2009. The first set of 12th Std pupils took the Government I April, 2010.
